The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Payroll Processing Assistant. Under general direction, this position will perform complex, specialized paraprofessional functions to assist in the coordination and monitoring of Payroll operations, utilizing originality and technical knowledge and understanding of the Department’s statewide Payroll process. The position will serve as liaison with Department employees and the Comptroller’s Office regarding questions and issues regarding employee compensation, responding to inquiries and explaining rules, regulations, and procedures to Department staff. This position will monitor assigned electronic mailboxes for Payroll and Timekeeping to ensure questions and issues are addressed and will perform Payroll transactions on the electronic system. The position will also make decisions concerning unique situations based upon guidelines or previous decisions of management. Finally, the position will answer phones, receive and distribute mail, and develop database or spreadsheet reports. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing a supporting role in the Department’s Payroll operations.
