Springfield Police Department Partners with The Outlet for 10th Annual “Bridging the Gap” Event

The Springfield Police Department, in partnership with The Outlet Mentoring Program, is proud to announce the 10th annual “Bridging the Gap” event on Saturday, August 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Jaycee Park (2400 E. Monroe Street, Springfield).

This free, family-friendly event is designed to strengthen the relationship between our officers, first responders, and the community we serve. “Bridging the Gap” offers an opportunity for residents of all ages to connect with those who protect and serve them—while enjoying a day filled with fun, food, and fellowship.

Attendees can participate in games for all ages, enjoy live entertainment, visit food vendors, and experience interactive demonstrations from police, fire, and emergency services. Guests will also be able to explore emergency vehicles and meet first responders one-on-one.

“Events like ‘Bridging the Gap’ are an important way for us to continue building trust, fostering understanding, and celebrating our partnership with the community,” said Springfield Police Chief Joe Behl.

The event is free and open to the public, and all ages are encouraged to attend.

This year’s sponsors include BlueCross BlueShield, Senator Doris Turner, Raising Cane’s, Sangamon Mass Transit District, Gift of Hope, Scheels, Memorial Behavioral Health, Hy-Vee, and more.
