The American Public Works Association’s (APWA) Illinois Chapter recognized Hanson Professional Services Inc. with a Public Works Project of the Year Award during the chapter’s annual awards dinner Nov. 5 in Peoria, Illinois.
Hanson received the award in the transportation category for projects that cost $5 million but less than $25 million for the South Mahomet Road project in Mahomet. Completed in 2024, the road was extended to address projected traffic congestion, providing Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District No. 3 improved access to its facilities and options for development. The project included a new Norfolk Southern Corp. railroad crossing and a new roundabout at the intersection of Churchill Road. The road was further extended to Prairieview Road during a second phase, with another roundabout built at Purnell Road. Hanson provided services for both project phases, preparing project development studies and design plans, specifications and estimates.
