SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Robert Chantome, P.E., S.E., senior geotechnical engineer, recently celebrated 25 years of service with Hanson Professional Services Inc.
Chantome, who joined the company in 2000, works at the firm’s Springfield headquarters. He conducts soil investigations, performs the geotechnical design of slopes and foundations and the structural design of retaining walls and prepares plans and specifications. He has provided services for projects including underpasses for the Springfield Rail Improvements Project; the rehabilitation of McClugage Bridge and the reconstruction of Interstate 74 in Peoria; multiple bridges for the Illinois Department of Transportation; transmission line foundation designs for Ameren Corp.’s Illinois Rivers Project; and numerous projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
In 2010, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District’s New Orleans Support Office commended Chantome for his professionalism, competence and initiative in the West Bank and Vicinity West Closure Complex project.
Chantome earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering in 1989 and 1990, respectively, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky and Missouri and a licensed structural engineer in Illinois.
