Bloome celebrates 20 years with Hanson

Lee Bloome, P.E., Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s chief water/wastewater engineer, recently celebrated 20 years of service with the firm.

Bloome, who joined Hanson in 2006, designs water and wastewater infrastructure, such as water distribution systems, sanitary lift stations and water booster pump stations, stormwater treatment and detention, elevated storage tanks and stormwater collection systems. He also is experienced in water and wastewater treatment, keeping up to date on emerging regulations related to perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances and lead service line replacements and upcoming nutrient removal standards. His recent project work includes multiple stormwater pump stations for the Springfield Rail Improvements Project, the design of a passive acid mine waste treatment system in Fairview Heights, a new 2-million-gallons-per-day wastewater treatment plant in Ingleside and various linear water and sewer installations around the U.S. 

Bloome received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1998 from Bradley University and is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Illinois. He received the 2009 Young Engineer of the Year and the 2020 Engineer of the Year awards from the Engineering Society of Illinois’ Capital Chapter, of which he is a member. He also is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois, American Water Works Association and the Illinois Municipal League.
