Job Title: Controller
Location: Central Illinois
Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Schedule: Full-time | On-site with flexibility
A well-established and growing privately held holding company in Central Illinois is seeking a Controller to lead and elevate its accounting function. This role oversees financial operations across multiple operating entities in the construction and specialty services space.

What You’ll Do
- Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate with external CPA firm on tax filings and year-end audits/reviews
- Develop and improve internal controls and accounting processes
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Partner with ownership and operational leadership on financial strategy
- Manage banking relationships and financing activities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry regulations
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience in construction, job costing, or multi-entity environments strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
